Verlinden 120mm F-14 Fighter Pilot
Posted by DRUMS01 on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 11:55 PM

Something I have recently completed. This is a resin kit from Verlinden. I built him straight from the box with the exception of the helmet decals and the patches on the flight suit. The display base was purchased from a local craft store. He was painted with Model Master, Tamiya, and oil paints. The base was painted in enamels and stain; with the standing portion painted with black crackle paint then covered in a pastel black dirt wash. Comments welcome....

Well done!  Always wanted to add that figure to my collection.  He looks soooo type A.

Thanks,

John

Very Cool. Great work! That's a nice figure display case too.

If I'm not mistaken, this is an old classic figure from Verlinden that you have done a marvelous job on. I've always loved the F-14 Tomcat and "Top Gun" is one of my favorite movies. Nice job Ben. Semper Fi!

VERY NICE! I just happened to finish this about a month ago. It was sitting on shelf for years.  It is nice little "kit". Shawn G

Hi;

 I know it's not your fault .But figure companies can't seem to get the helmets from making the pilots look like pin-heads .I have been around fliers and yes , they get their heads hidden in the gear but they don't look pin-headed . You did a great job on the figure overall . It's a 9.5 on the ten scale to me . T.B.

Looks great! I really like the details you have going on with the various shading. The only thing I might have a question about is the American Flag. I'm not sure about the Navy, but I thought flags on military uniforms normally faced forward, that is the blue field faces forward. I know it's that way in the Air Force... Which ever, it still looks awesome! Raymond

Thanks again everyone. It goes well with my 120mm B17 pilot (separate thread). All I need now are a WW1 and Korean war (American) pilot.

Till then....
