Youngs Minitures 1/10th SS Bust Ardenne 1944.

My latest completed Youngs Bust, another from my better half for a birtday pressy, is there bust of an SS soldier during the Ardenne campaign. Like all their busts this was a dream to work with, not so much a build but a paint and assemble. Painted with several brands of Acrylics and weathered with oils. It did come with a belt of MG 42 ammo to go around the shoulders. But this was in several bits and i felt it would hide a lot of the detail, as well as being a pain to shape, so i left it off.

The base is from Hydra Models in Italy, far better than anything i can get in the UK.

I am really enjoying busts, and apart from anything else, they have really helped me improve my 35th figures.

Last birthday i got 2 more (i must be doing somthing right). One was another SS bust, this tie from Kursh, and a Templar Knight. I am under orders to do the Knight first, hopfully it won't take me 2 years like this one did.

Great job on this bust, Bish! I have to say, I thought I saw a crook in his mouth, then went to the next picture and realized it was a cigarette. Very well done!

Thanks Bruce. I can see what you mean. These are brilliantly done busts, the mouth was perfectly done to hold the cigarette.

Bish, beautiful job on illustrating that SS camou Yes

I'd like to see some red on his face, but other than that, you did a very good job on the eyes and all the other details.

regards,

Jack

Thanks Jack.

Yes, i know what you mean. I did do that earlier in the painting though it was a bit overdone. In my attempt to tone it down, i went to far the other way. Decided to leave it rather than make a hash of it, but thats somthing i need to work on.

Nice job Bish. I like the Waffen-SS camo, but I especially like how your leather straps came out.

Looks great Bish! Love the camo, you did a great job on a complex paint scheme.

Thanks G. It was nice to have bust where i had some idea of how to paint it. Though it still took me 2 years to get it done.
