Verlinden 120mm English Knight Help
Posted by Jobu67 on Friday, May 17, 2019 10:11 PM

Hi! I just started modelling a few months ago and new to this site and have mostly been working with armour and aircraft, but decided to switch things up and try a figure kit. I just got the Verlinden English Knight 14th Century 120mm #1086 and the kit quality is superb, but there is a small roll of what seems to be lead foil and as there are no instructions provided with the model, I'm unsure as to what this would be for?

Thanks for any help!!Smile

-Joe

Here are some pictures of the kit and the foil:

Hello Joe,

i build a lot of figures like this but unfortunately not this specific one. A lot of the verlinden kits include the foil or some times just paper to make straps or reins. The foil could be to make straps for the shield to attach to the left arm or possibly a wrist strap for the mace.

There is another forum “Planet Figure” that is almost entirely on building and painting historical and fantasy figures. It’s a very inspirational and helpful forum. Try posting on there. I’m sure you can get some help from someone on there.

^^^ This.  Foil is most likely for the back of the shield.  Google "medieval shield strap".  Cool figure BTW - I was really into figures a while back.  They are fun to do because it's mostly painting.  While old - I reccomend this.  Helps learn face painting, shading, shadows/highlights etc.

Good luck and post your build pics!

Thanks,

I would have to agree with the guys there. I hope you will post pics of this when its done, it would be nice to see more pre 20th century figures. You should deffinetly check out Planet Figure. I know a few guys in the UK who produce some stunning work and i think some of them are on there.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Thanks for all the help guys! I ended up deciding not to build this particular figure, but opted instead for a different Verlinden Knight. Currently waiting for the gloss coat to dry to apply the final wash. Will post final pictures once the figure is complete.

Thanks again for the assistance,

Joe
