This is a cool project and it is nicely done. TCM aired the movie a few weeks back, which I watched.

Andrea's figure is sculpted after the actual man not the actor and it's readily apparent. A few years after the release of this kit Andrea did a version based on the Peter O'Toole portrayal and it was also a good rendering.

 

Oh that's good to hear. As much as I liked O'Toole's portrayal I'd rather have one based on the real Lawrence myself.

Oh gosh I love that!!! Great work on the base and the saddle!!! Looking forward to more work on the camel and Lawrence himself!! 

Though I have to wonder in 54mm if you can really see much difference between the real Lawrence and O'Toole since the face is only the size of a pea! 

Does the figure look like the real person or the actor?

It's looking real good so far, almost wish I had one.

I found a old article in my Father's things.  It was a small hewspaper clipping about how Lawrence was in the hospital in England after a serious motorcycle accident and not expected to live.  There was also a mention that his friends were suspicous about the accident because he never had riden a bike and didn't own one to begin with.

I would say that seeing the movie Lawrence of Arabia sparked an interest in finding out who T.E. Lawrence actually was. A very interesting and enigmatic character indeed. I purchased this figure kit way back when it was released and waited until I felt like I could do it justice.

@Bucksco: Why did you decide to build your T.E. Lawrence model?

Your diorama reminds me of one of my favourite books, The Odyssey, translated by Lawrence. You probably won't find a gorier version — my Grade 7 students loved it! Early editions are pricey, but it's easy to find paperback editions. I'll always remember that on my first liberty from Navy boot camp, in San Diego in 1962, I saw wonderful Lawrence of Arabia (and had my first lox for supper that evening!). Interesting combo — a film about Arabia and Arabs followed by a meal in a Jewish deli!

Looks really nice. Twer' me, I'd skip the palm trees. I've been in the Wadi Rum and it is really hostile and barren.

Wow - fantastic!  The saddle (is it called a saddle?) looks awesome.  The base is impressive as well.  I'll be following along
