Bandai Wing Gundam Zero EW. . .

It's a figure, right? I've never done one of these before. Something like this wasn't even on my radar. Back in the spring, before COVID-19 changed everything, a club member gave me this kit. He wanted to see what I could do with it. It took a while to get started. I felt like a painter looking at a blank canvas. Now what? Well, I finished the figure this afternoon. I really worked way out of my comfort zone.

One Gundam Soldier. I hope I did him justice. I'm surprised how small the finished figure is. In pieces it seemed so much larger. I am pretty impressed with the completed model though. Kinda neat. Now the little soldier is up on the shelf surrounded by WWII airplanes. Yeah, he fits right in.

The paints are:
Tamiya Flat Yellow
Tamiya Flat Red
AK Xtreme Metal for the silver
Model Master Gunmetal for the gun
Model Master Clear Green Acryl for the eyes
Tamiya Black Panel Liner for accents
Some parts left unpainted because. . .
Some parts are sealed with Tamiya Clear Gloss and some parts are sealed with Testors Dullcote.

Ohhhhhhhhhh very cool! And very colourful!!!

Love what you've done there- and it's always great to break out and do something a little different.

I think it is all Hasegawa's "fault!  Their Egg Plane series back in the 1970s, while being met with derision and scorn by the "serious" modelers, gained almost a cult following.  I confess to buying an Egg SR-71 at the time, and thought it was neat.

In the 1980s, when Bandai started doing their Gundams in the Super Deformed format, I thought it was just a passing fad.  At the time the kits were really cheaply made, with hollow backsides and simplified construction.  It went on a slow burn through the 1990s, but here in the 21st (Universal) Century, they have come back with a vengance.  I guess Bandai figured out these things had widespread appeal, so they upped their game and are now producing good quality "SD" Gundams.

And the circle is now complete, with other manufacturers cashing in on planes, tanks, cars, and ships done in SD format.  It's not my bag but I think they are a good thing, as they may entice people who would not touch a model to try one.

And they can provide a decompression build for us rabid modelers!  Big Smile
