The postman dropped this off today from Cult.

The Atlantis Metaluna Mutant

The history is somewhat vague, you can read about it

It's neat that Aurora-esque kits are appearing now, but with better accuracy, engineering and fit.  This kind of kit was the stuff of dreams that kids in the 1960s-1970s had.

I can only wonder what is next - a glow in the dark version?  I built the classic Aurora Godzilla back in the early 1970s and was delighted by the glow feature.

A series of the aliens from those "B" movies as well as from the original Outer Limits would be interesting.

I already have a model of Gorgo and a alien from an early episode of Outer Limits.

That's so cool Mach71, looking forward to you building him (or is it a her?) up!!!

Ikar, I think someone did a line of Outer Limits figures years and years ago. I think it was around '95 or so. I believe they're pretty much impossible to find now. Wonder someone didn't buy the molds and re-release them though.

I just ordered the same kit. I built almost all of the monster and superhero kits back in the day. I recall Aurora also having a line of sports stars too. Love to see those come back as well.

Scared the *** out of me, when I was a kid.

I would not care to build or display such an ugly thing.

Just my opinion....

Yeah, I just saw this advertised in the latest Squadron newsletter, too.

"Aurora-esque" is a good term for this completely new kit.

Well it ain't the most pretty of monsters that's for sure. Sorry mutant, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

I always though the movie was a little weird in any case. I mean all the Metalunians have these giant friggin' heads and nobody notices???

I looked and some of the Outer Limits figures are on Ebay. About a hundred bucks a piece so they're a little rich for my blood.

I read a piece of trivia about creating the Mutant for the movie.  Apparently the special effects team was having trouble creating the legs to match the rest of the body surface, so they wound up depicting them wearing those pants instead.

Thanks Baron, always did strike me funny that the crazy looking mutant was wearing trousers!

Just because your a mutant does not mean you can't wear nice things.

The aliens from the Ultraman franchise have known this for many years.  Some even had elf shoes with the pointy toes.  Of course, other aliens looked like gigantic space brine shrinp and stuff like that.

Ah no worries. It's been too hot, I haven't gotten much done either.
