Looking for German Tank Commander Recommendations
Posted by Panzernoob on Saturday, August 6, 2022 8:34 PM
Relatively new to the world of 1/35 figures, but I am looking for a WW2 German Tank Commander that is in some sort of combat spotting position. Basically, what I am envisioning is a tank commander hunkered down in the turret and spotting (telling the gunner where to shoot, distance, etc and watching for the shot). I've come across commanders casually standing with binoculars, but that pose really isn't sufficient for the combat scene diorama which I am envisioning. My preference is later war, but anything is better than nothing at this point.
Any material is sufficient, but I would like it to be well detailed so I’m thinking metal or resin is going to be the way I go, but that being said, manufacturing has come a long way so who knows.
While I have websites which I frequent to purchase my model kits, I haven’t really come across any which are dedicated to 1/35 figures. Any recommendations?
Any suggestions for either of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

I generally try an Ebay search.I just tried this for you: 1/35 Panzer commander or 1/35 panzer crew.A lot are resting or posing but a handful are in action, might fit the bill.

Dragon's Actung Jabo set might work.

Even if you don't like buying Ebay,it 'gives you an idea of whats out there.

Yeah, Tojo's recommendation is spot on. Also there are some figure companies, like Alpine that have some fine figures in resin in 1/35 scale and with different heads. Good luck!

Yeah good advice from the guys!

Normally I'd also suggest trying AliExpress with resin 1/35 figure in the search box. Some of the figures are knock-offs from other companies but some seem original. Not to get political but right now I'm not sure I'd want to order anything from the PRC, it's your call though.

In addition to the suggestions others have made, which are very good, I have a couple of go-tos when looking for figures.

Ultracast out of Canada has a good selection of WW II German figures, including a variety of panzer crewmen:

Ultracast's figures are nicely sculpted and crisply cast, and very much recommended.

CMK out of the Czech Republic has very good figure sets generally, and this set specifically:

CMK is worth bookmarking.

I looked at ICM's site; ICM has some good figures in various scales, too.  But no WW II German tank crew.  Nevertheless, ICM is another good one to bookmark.  You can find their sets via retailers, but also on the secondary market via eBay and other places.

An old standby is Verlinden, too.  Verlinden's products are coming back onto the market, though Greg Cooper's Scale Model Graveyard in Denison, TX.  He bought molds and masters for much of the catalog, and has started offering some items through the eBay store racershaven.  You can also find a lot of Verlinden figures on eBay and other secondhand sources.  It's worth it to keep an eBay search for Verlinden and various scales.

Hope that helps!

Best regards,

Brad

The Ultracast link is a listing of the different brands they offer.  Oddly they didn't include their own castings of Germans on that page, which probably has one of the better action posses.  Multi-pose figure includes optional arms and head:

All of your advice has been incredibly helpful,  Also, That SS commander is exactly the pose I was after.

I'm definitely going to utilize the websites and see what I find.
