Here's a great diorama from master modeler Tatsuya Kaneko that was on display at the Shizuoka Hobby Show this past weekend (along with a million other great models!):

Ain't that cool?

*I posted this pic in the Figures and SF forums, too, but I figured (no pun intended) that it also fit in the "misc." category here!

I love these bug kits. Got three of them hibernating in the model dungeon waiting to see if they will ever get to roam. Thinking of doing them as large versions of real bugs. Always liked the Praying Mantis. Even thinking about picking up the Ant from Heller.

Hey Phillip, is that actually the monster movie bug kit? (I forget what the series is called.) My own favorite was the scorpion, mebbe because I'm a Scorpio, nah, that's not it, astrology is for girls. Tongue [:P]

Looks like the tanks are the 1/144th scale World Tank Museum vehicles from the Japanese army series. (You know, the series that no one except Japanese people bought? Tongue [:P])

What a cool diorama! Extremely entertaining.

Larry,
I think the AMT series was called 'The Gigantics' or something like that. All those extra buildings, cars, people, etc. Another 'instant diorama'.
Even though I am also a Scorpio (it really is a small world isn't it), my favorite has always been the Mantis. Love the real bug and that movie (The Deadly Mantis or some other stupendous name) was just the..ah..deadly?
The scorp is #2 and was thinking of doing the spider as a banded legged Tarantula.

Hi guys!
Those are indeed the Kaiyodo WTM Type 61 MBts (hey, I bought a ton of 'em!), and the "Gigantics" tarantula (I only bought one of them!).
I like the Mantis, too. Always thought about doing a dio of the last scene from "Deadly Mantis," with the dead mantis lying on top of cars and buses in the tunnel.
