This is a 1/35 resin offering from Model Victoria. The original kit depicted the continental uniform including steel helmet and my aim was to convert to a figure in North Africa.
The head was exchanged with one wearing the tropical helmet from the same company's assorted heads kit. No conversion was necessary for the uniform as a tropical one was issued of the same design, just in kahki linen instead of grey-green wool. I did perform some surgery on the lower legs. The model had both ankle socks and puttees and I couldn't find any photo evidence of this example in the desert. So I removed the socks first with a knife and then sanded that area as well as the leg wrappings. I cut a thin strip of masking tape and used this as the new puttees. Tape was also use for the strap of the Baretta. Some putty was used to replicate laces in the upper shoe area where the folded over socks were removed.
The model was painted with various brands of acrylics, the first coats being applied with an airbrush. I did use a fine brown pencil crayon to add a few lines to the face. The base is from a set from Hornet Models. Comments and questions are welcomed, thanks.
