GI Winter overcoats colors
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, November 25, 2004 4:15 AM
I have 2 different sets of WW2 GI's in winter overcoats for a diorama.... One sets says to paint the overcoats an earthy color, the other says OD....... I want to be historically accurate, so my question is were the overcoats issued in both colors or is one of these kits wrong? Thanks in advance.Smile [:)]

tankergeoff, I looked in one of the books that I have, and found, for North-West Europe 1941-1945 the following."The GI arrivinig(darn) in England wears the overseas cap with light blue piping and OD greatcoat. The picture shown looks more like a dark earth color to me than olive drab.I'll look through some other books and let you know if I find anything else.Big Smile [:D]

I watched a tape called "Normandy To The Rhine: The Western Front 1944-1945". After viewing this, I would say to go with the "earthy color". Hope this helps.Approve [^]
