Thanks Woody. I've been a fan of Tolkein & LOTR for years. Probably read the Hobbit & the Trilogy 4 or 5 times. I loved the movies, which were excellent, but the books & the Hildebrant brothers illustrations are my favorites.

Your dwarf brings a big smile to my face. It reminds me of the LOTR of literature. As much as I enjoyed the theatrical version they pale in comparison to the books. Once again very well done. Smile [:)]

Size of brush depends on the size of the figure & the detail being painted. I usually use a 3,1or 0 for large areas and go down to a 5/0 or even 10/0 for finer details. You really need a whole series of quality brushes if your going to do a lot of figure painting.

Thanks Ernie. It was all done with round sable brushes. I use the AB on aircraft, but not figures.

I am new to the Figure forum, just browsing when I saw this thread. I love the LOTR. Did you airbrush or just used a brush on the figure. Nice paint job Approve [^]

Rick, your fiqure looks excellent, the base really gives the impression that he is a Dwarf. Seen a few good Dwarf fiqures that lose the Dwaft effect by the scenery thats on the base. Thanks for sharing.

Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Gimli The Dwarf

All you LOTR fans will quickly realize this sculpt is not the Gimli from the recent Blockbuster movies. He's based on art work from an old, rare & expensive illustrated publication of the Trilogy. There were also Calendars issued with this art work over a period of several years. The figure is metal, approximately 90mm. Painted with Winsor & Newton oils & Humbrol enamels. Base was spiffed up with miscellaneous items from Woodland Scenics.
