I've had this little Verlinden Vignette for quite some time now; I think I got it when I was still in my mid-teens. I always liked the idea of a ready-made vignette or diorama, mostly because I'm lazy! The base, wall and rubble are all one piece, with the legs, lower torso, AT mine and a grenade being molded in as well.

Anyhoo, I started this thing several years ago and got so far as to assemble the torso and arms as well as one piece of gear. Well... I made a bit of a mistake, got frustrated and put it away until the other day.

I've made the necessary correction and now have this thing pretty much ready for paint. All that's needed is to decide what extras I'm going to add.

In this first shot you can see the added detail on the wall. This area was totally devoid of any detail and would have looked pretty funky, so I had to do something. The added features show up as a lighter tone. (almost white) This was done with an X-acto knife and a triangular jeweler's file.

Not much too see in this shot, just the strap for the gas mask canister.

Here you can see more of the canister strap as well as those for the bag on his back. I may add something in this area, namely the 'blank' sections on the wall and the large piece of rubble.

The only things missing in these shots are a Panzerfaust, Gewehr and a grenade, all of which come with the kit. The Gewehr will have a sling added, but other than that I won't be adding any extra detail to the kit parts.

However, I will be adding at least one extra piece to the vignette; the helmet you see in the background on the right in all the photos. That'll be on the other side of the wall just in front of the dude. I've added a bullet hole to the helmet, but I may also add a liner to the inside and attach it to the base in a way so that it can be seen. We'll see what happens...
