Out-of-the-bottle German WWI "feldgrau"?

While not an expert on German uniforms, I don't think there was any change in color between the two war's until they went ot the green color. I know the style changed though.

Fabric variations, dye variations, dirt, washings, fading, stains.....Who's going to know what it is supposed to look like?

I agree with peridexion, there is a lattitude of color considered wear, dye lots, fabric, field conditions, etc. I think if you get close and within its context you'll be right.

Vallejo makes specific colors...both of which I've matched up against other stuff (including some original Heer clothing) and they look real good...

Vallejo German Gray #995 - is the typical Heer gray.

Hope that helps...but like everyone else has said, with the variations in dye, fabric, and of course, manufacturers of the clothing, there's some wiggle room.
