Color for figure bases? Your opinion counts...

I'm working on several of Tamiya's 1/16 WWII figures, and I'm trying to decide what color to make the bases they come with. Their small pieces of flat styrene, basically, about 1.5"x2" in size (more or less). I had thought about black, but then the boots would blend in too much. Maybe an earthtone? Or just plain gray? Your advice and opinions are most appreciated. Big Smile [:D]

Make it special. Go to Michaels or AC Moore and pick up a wooden block or small decoupage plaque. ($.50 to $1.29). Get some Celluclay and some turf or static grass from the hobby shop. Stain the wood and apply a thin layer of Cellucliy with brown acrylic paint mixed in. Apply the turf or grass. When dry, drill a hole where you want your guy to be. Use a thin brass rod superglued or epoxied into your figure's foot and superglue or epoxy him to the base.
I don't know of a single figure painter who doesn't do something aloong these lines.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Now there's an idea! And it'd certainly be a bit more interesting than the plain plastic bases. Thanks for the suggestion!
