1/72 Naval Figures
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 1:56 PM
With the release of the Revel VII U-Boat kit there's lots of U-Boat figs available in 1/72, but I was wondering if anyone knows of where I could find RN naval figures in that scale (didn't Airfix's Vosper MTB kit have some?) as well as Modern naval figures in 1/72.

Do they exist, or do I need to sculpt them myself?

I think Hasegawa or Fujimi had a set of modern aircraft carrier deck crew a few years ago. The revell PT109 figures aren't too bad, given they were originally released over 40 years ago. Good detail that paints up well (I did several on commission a year or two back). Airfix is not noted for good figures, but I can't say for sure about any Vosper or other crew figures.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Thanks, I'll have to pick up the Revell PT-109 to get the figs. You know if the Revell Vosper is different from the Airfix kit?

The Revell and Airfix kits of the Vosper are different versions.

H&K does some German figs for Uboats and a few Allied sets

Hi

I have been sculpting some WWII 1/72 Royal Navy figures for the Vosper and Flower Class Corvette but mainly to accompany Fleet Arm Arm aircraft. Whilst it's likely that I shall produce them for sale they're unlikely to be available for some time.

Have you seen the Heckler & Gros RN figures? They're very good and with quite a lot of character.

I have a couple of Verlinden 1/72 Navy figs. Theye're pretty old, but you could probably find them at a model show or IPMS swap meet (where I got mine).

This guy has several British/Allied figure sets listed amongst the U-boot crews.

Those are the Heckler & Gros figures I mentioned above. They're available from Historex Agents of Dover in the UK. I think they're a bit expensive but very good
