Batman painting tips
Posted by echolmberg on Thursday, January 13, 2005 12:43 PM
Hi everyone!

I was at my local ma & pa hobby shop the other day and picked up a great white metal figure of Batman. It stands about 3.5" tall. Anywho, last night I put down a base coat on the figure and it's really turning out great! Now what's left will be the highlighting and shading. Does anyone have any tips on how to make basically an all black figure look highlighted? For starters, I painted the base coat with Testor's enamel semi-gloss black with a little bit of white added in. I want it to look black and not BLACK! Know what I mean? So I did that but I'm wondering if I can highlight with enamels or would you recommend oils? Acrylics? Which will blend better? Should I shoot a flat coat on before I start to highlight?

Thanks for the tips!

Eric

PS. I also made sure to use different shades of black for the boots and gloves so as not to have everything look so monochromatic.
