Metel
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, January 28, 2005 2:41 AM

This is Metel from the Anime Galaxy Express.
One of the first figure kits I saw that took me years to track down. And then when it arrived it had the hat, top body and arms missing [:0]. But I got replacements, so, finally I had it.
It was a tricky kit to make, not just because 1/8 resin and hair at that scale is prone to snapping, but rather the colour. I wanted the blacks to have different textures, and finally managed it with blue pastels being rubbed in to the paintwork and sealed with Johnsons Klear being airbrushed on it.
The watch was my wife's idea, and I thought it gave her the element of waiting for someone.
Well, that's my last kit until I get some more pics done.

Excellent work on a usual subject FarawayPictures. Can understand the difficulties with the hair.

Thanks for sharing.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Looking good. Who made that kit, I am not familiar with it?

Here is a slight advise for yellow/blond hair, first lay down a coat of green colour.
Sounds strange but it really helps. Wink [;)]

BTW, hope you pinned the kit.

Green???? That does sound weird. So weird, it's just the sort of thing I'd try :D
I only pinned the head, the arms went quite high so I was able to use a hot glue gun quite discreetly. I did'nt want to put a pin in the watch so she's just superglued on.
I can't remember who makes this, I used to at one time keep all info on kits, box art, the works but now I dont bother. If you want to try and track one down you could try here: http://www.spaceart.de/

Model Museum, if you have any links to your green hair trick I'd love to see them.
Do you have an on-line gallery, sounds like you have some interesting builds?
