Wacht am Rhein

The Tamiya 1/16 German Infantryman in Reversible Winter Uniform pretty much OOB. I drilled out the barrell and foresight of the MP 44 and added a couple of M1939 grenades from Verlinden.

The figure represents a grenadier from the 1st SS Liebstandarte Adold Hitler part of Peiper's Kampfgruppe in the operation "Wacht am Rhein" at an intersection between La Gleize and Stoumont.

The uniform looks to be glossy, but that might be the flash. In the middle picture, especially, you can see that the flesh color has run over the helmet straps.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Yeah definately the flash, the model definately isn't glossy. Interesting because the face I painted with oils and the rest with acrylic and the oils really seem glossy with the flash. I'm still having trouble with the whole photography thing.

Have you tried giving the whole works a shot of dull coat? I use MM Flat clear over oils, and that really helps cut down on the glare. May I also suggest photographing outdoors, using natural light. Put the figure in the shadows to cut down on the harsh light directly from the sun. These are some tricks that I found useful, so I hope you find them equally helpful.

A flat coat spray and some fix on the face will make it a great figure.

Face and uniform are good.
Maybe a darker wash around the face to emphasize the lines.

thanks for all the kind words guys. The face is actually quite flat, but came out looking glossy with the flash. I wanted the figure to look cold and pasty rather than snug and ruddy so that is why the face looks a bit pale. Thanks again for the comments. cheers.
