I will have to look for one of those mixers, probably. I think micro-Mark has them also. I guess ordering the paints by mail may not be the best way to go but my LHS does not stock these paints. Thanks again for all feed back.

hmmm... wierd thats the first time I noticed the dropper tops came off on my Vallejo paints... glad I saw this just in case I have that prob...

I've never had problems shaking them and not having them mix like you Snoopy... I get mine through www.greatmodels.com and a hobby shop near me. (not local but worth the drive once in awhile) ... try what woodbeck said but I have the feeling they might be a little TOO old or like Rick said, not stored properly. I have used about 20 or so colors (They have replaced most of my other paints) and they all work fine with just the shaking...

an addendum to what Jeff said is get a mini mixer (I got mine at the grocery store for like 4 dollars) it looks a lot like the paint mixer from Badger but it has a long plastic round piece with two flexible blades (paddles) at the end... cut the blades off and use just the round piece... it stirs the @#$@# out of paint in no time flat!! and will fit nicely into the neck of the Vallejo bottles.

The main problem I see besides your source not handling the paints well is that your shaking not stirring. Stick a toothpick down there and stir that puppy. You should get a big 'ole booger of pigment on the bottom. just stir til there is no more on the toothpick, takes a little while with old paints.

The only source I know to get from is Squadron mail Order. It is strange some bottles shake and you can hear the fluid so you have an idea that it needs mixings and the other bottles do not have that obvious sound but feels rather solid. Ever one I talk to about this says the same thing, never heard that problem before. I like their covering power but I just can't keep wasting money in hopes to get a good bottle. I am afraid of adding water to thin the bottle out and possibly ruining the paints.

I buy Vallejo from the LHS & have never had the problem you describe. Next time you buy, order from a different source. Sounds like the source your'e using has some problems. Probably improper storage.

I had a thread earlier but may be some new people may want to add some thing. I re-order some paints from Andrea Minatures because the ones that came in the kit (the 9 bottle paint set/knight) were not mixing well and thought they might be old. Then I had some modelers advise me to bang against something hard to loosen but I still never heard or feel anything mixing inside the bottle. The new bottles I recieved, half were the same as the others. Some bottles I shake I can hear fluid swishing around where other I heard nothing and I have banged them against the concrete garage floor and still do not feel anything loosening up. All the paints I have used cover nicely. I wish to continue with these paints but I never know if they are mixing or not and some are really hard to sqeeze out of the bottle. Am I wasting my time with these or am I just a little slow at learning how they mix? I would appreciate any input. Soaking them in warm water does not do anything for these paints either. Any thing else to try before I throw them as far as they will fly? Thank you, frustrated painter!!!
