Quintin,

My advice is similar to what Rick has already suggested, with some slight variations. First, I prefer using epoxy to assemble all of the big parts of a kit (legs, arms, torso, and head), I then use a medium or thick CA for any smaller detail parts. In addition, I have had good results using Floquil's white primer for metal kits (it comes in a spray can) and then applying my paint over this (I typically use Humbrol enamels with oil paints for the flesh tones and uniform washes). Good luck, and have fun building your new figure.

Hi Quintin,

have a look at the website of Vallejo paints: http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/
and specifically at their guide: "Figure painting with Acrylics": http://www.ttfxmedia.com/vallejo/cgi-bin/_modelis.asp?p1=ing&p2=modelcolortecnicas

Also, Figure International (the magazine) has some articles on their site www.figureinternational.com which may be of help as well as their forum.

Good luck and lots of pleasure!

After removing all of the casting parting lines, give it a good wash to remove any oils/release compound. Assemble with CA or Epoxy. I prefer Epoxy. Prime with any enamel or lacquer based primer. I prefer Floquil Grey Primer. After satisfied that all joins are filled OK, I usually give it a base coat of White, kinda like preparing a canvass. I like Citadel White acrylic from a rattle can. You can then paint with your choice of medium. Acrylics, Enamels & Oils all can be used.

Regards, Rick

Metal model pointers, please!

Hi all,

I got the F.M. Beneito "Napoleon on the eve of Austerlitz" metal model as a present the other day. This will be the most challenging model I've built to date, and my first metal one.

Could you metal model buffs please give me a few pointers on how to go about getting the best results? Specifically, what type of paints to use, what adhesive materialto use, priming, what to look out for etc.

Thanks in advance!!
