I would agree with South Aussie's comments and would recommend painting the uniform with the base color first (I typically use Humbrol #29) and then use your other pattern colors after the base coat is dry. Again, I prefer to use the Humbrol line for this as they seem to show few brush marks, and by thinning them with a little CLEAN Testors Brush Cleaner, you can paint very small dots. For the pattern, I would recommend using the smallest brush that you can lay your hands on, especially as you are woking in 1/35 scale, so preferably a 20/0 or smaller brush. This is just one method recommending one brand of paint, but it works for me, good luck with your figures.

panzer_grenadier, start with the overall base color usually a light sand color, then paint the large green pattern areas, followed by the large red brown pattern areas. Then paint the dots using the same three colors over the base colors, if you wish you can add a little white to the base colors for contrast and variation.

It really helps if you have a photo of a pea pattern uniform to use as a reference while you are painting this type of pattern.

Hopes this helps.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.
