**Just a thought** If you have a decent digital camera it should have something like a "vintage" color mode. If you put the camera in that the pictures look very old and rustic, its kind of cool. You might want to try that along with the black and white, just for an effect. It could be cool. s

Guys-never liked acrylics but it's been many years since I tried them-always been this cool stigma about oils and enamels. But maybe it's tme for a second look?

Go here: http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/ and choose model color from the drop dopwn menu. Scrol to the bottom of the page and check out FREE tutorial. Print it and study it. Between that, the Andrea CD on figure painting and the absolutely invaluable guidance of my mentors in the club, I feel I'm growing in the Dark Side of the hobby. I started with enamels, moved to oils, was getting less and less satisfaction with them and moved on to acrylics more and more. I still use oils on some special applications, but I'm finding Andrea/Vallejo just so much more satisfying.

That is a great paint job, and in acrylic? I cannot bring myself to give those a try, even though I have about 15 bottles of Valejo colour in my work shop. Well done sir.

Hey AJ-ever been to Deadwood, SD? Pretty bleak nowadays-but I bet you would love the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming. Firearms from the 1500's to the present and paintings by O'Keefe and Russell.

AJ-the reason I asked is that some may not realize how small your figure of Bill is. Like I said great, great work but where are the cards?? ;-)

54mm is closer to 1/32, but there are several interpretations of the scale, with one measuing the 54mm at the eye level and another at the top of the head. Needlss to say, the former will produce a larger figure overall.

Great job AJ! Andrea sure has some interesting subjects. Now 54mm is roughly equivalent to 1/35 scale is it not?

My latest figure is Andrea’s relatively new offering in 54 mm of Wild Bill Hickock. He was painted completely in acrylics. The included base is a very small section of boardwalk which seemed insufficient so I built a larger section from balsa, This was stained with a wash of Payne’s Gray oil and further dusted with pastels. The ground work is Celluclay mixed with ballast, brown acrylic paint and white glue. The whiskey bottle is from Academy and painted a combination of green and red clear Tamiya.

And now in glorious black and white!
