Bronze Tyrannosaurus
Posted by MBT70 on Saturday, September 17, 2005 10:44 PM
I took the second version of Lindberg's Jurrassic Park Tyrannosaur and built it to look like a bronze sculpture. I filled in the smashed Mercedes so it's back in the Cretaceous again and added some extra scales, changed the jaw and mouth opening and added a crest on the nose with some Milliputty. Then I mixed up a custom bronze color, painted the claws gold, teeth steel and eyes copper and Rub-n-Buffed the whole thind with brass before sealing it with a light gloss.

VBS! Thanks again. Just to take the effect a step farther, I filled the base with Milliputty for weight and put some green velvet under it like they do with statuettes. It feels nice and heavy and most people think it is bronze until I tell them.

That looks fantastic! Out of curiosity, where did you get the inspiration for the crest? Is it something you saw somewhere, or is it completely from your imagination. I've never seen a depiction of a T-rex with a crest before, but it looks pretty groovy.
