Not the US military. US Military hasn't used the older hanger system since the early 1980's. It was replaced with the modern ALICE system. ALICE is held on with clips that slide over the entire belt and then one side slides down to trap the belt inside the clip.
This is an ALICE clip:
The clip goes through loops on the back of the piece of gear (an ammo pouch below) and then around the belt.
This is the old style clip on the old style M7 bayonet, which is not widely used anymore either, replaced by the M9 bayonet as part of the ALICE system.
