I'd avoid using these paints for figures since they are not brush friendly. Check out the lines by Model Master, Vallejo, Andrea and Poly Scale if you prefer acrylics. Pretty much any khaki would work and remember, the sun will bleach this stuff down pretty fast, so there's no absolute correct color.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Another alternative is Humbrol enamel paints. I have used them for years. They brush on evenly without any marks. Remember to use a slight color shade variation with DAK clothing. These uniforms were bleached due to the sun and the North African Desert elements, often resulting in shade variation even between pants and shirts.

The colors can range anywhere from light tan to lime green. I usually get a book on the subject when I start a project. I have Squadron/Signal's book on the DAK, Osprey's book, and a large, hardcover book on the uniforms of the DAK. Plenty of reference, including color photos of uniforms and equipment.

You're not going to find a "magic bullet" color available in the store, if you're that worried about accuracy. Just use you eye and find a good base color, then vary it from pants to blouse to headgear using greens and white. You might choose some tan, and/or some mustard yellow as two separate bases.

 I like Humbrol 94 and 93.

the thing i don't like with the tamiya paint is their limited selection you have to do a lot of mixing for proper shades

most of the other companies you guys have named here have the colors with either no mixing or a minium of mixing
