NEED AN ID
Posted by DON6169 on Thursday, December 29, 2005 1:37 PM

HELLO ALL YOU FELLOW MODELERS!

     I NEED SOME HELP IDENTIFYING A FIGURE I ACQUIRED WITH NO PAINTING GUIDE OR BOX ART.

     THE ONLY THING I AM SURE OF IS THAT IT IS A HUSSAR,PROBABLY BRITISH.

     IT STANDS ON AN OVAL PIECE OF COBBLESTONE STREET, AND HE IS LEANING ON A CANE [ PROBABLY AN OFFICER ].

     ADDITIONAL IFO, FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BASE, MADE=1976, 90MM, #D/7 AND SCULPTED BY DAVE JARVIS.

     IF NOBODY CAN HELP ME, THEN MAYBE YOU COULD SEND ME  A LINK TO AN ONLINE SITE THAT SHOWS GRAPHICS OF "SABRETACHES",SO I COULD TRY TO MATCH IT UP?

   =================================THANKS DON CALDWELL

Do you possess photographic technology sufficient enough to provide us with a picture or two? Napoleonic and post Napoleonic materials are a specialty of mine. If I could see it, perhaps I could identify it, or at least give you an idea who manufactured it.

Judging by the date and the scale, it could be an old Series 77 kit, but that's a guess. Do the legs seem kind of on the short side? That's a hallmark of Series 77 kits. You have to shim the legs up above the knees to get them to the right length.

No, he sent me pics. It's definitely a Napoleonic era British Hussar officer. Unfortunately I wasn't able to identify the kit.The uniform is generic enough to pass for a number of regiments, but the sabretasche has distinct markings on it, which I was also unable to ID.
