Have you tried dry brushing? Take a brush and dip it in silver, and then wipe most of the paint off. You want just some residue still left in the brush. Then, carefully, lightly drag the brush over the fine details. This will leave the paint on the high points, and bring them out. You might want to carefully lay in a dark wash, paint, heavily thinned out (Shep Paine says it's more like tinted thinner than thinned paint) to collect in the low points too, to create contrast.
