ygmodeler4:

You can "shorten" the figure(s) by cutting the leg and gluing it back on once trimmed. Just remember to keep proportion in mind. If you shorten the legs too much the torso will be disproportionate and you will have a marching alien band.

You may want to check the 54mm or 1/32 scale ranges as you may find more readily available figures that you could convert more rapidly to your needs.

Check the following:

There are pre-made mould for instruments and arms for converting figures to a marching band.

Hope this helps.

Cheers;

Gregory

Just shortening the leg will make you loose the proportions of the figure, i.e. you'll end up with a short legged chap. You'd have to shorten the torso and the arms, too to maintain a little proportion.

I remember having seen a few sets of a WW2 German marching band. I don't remember the manufacturer (best guess is Andrea Miniatures or SOL Model).

There is an Italian company that makes figures of the Carabinieri (police) band, but they are all standing.

In both cases you'll have a hard time converting 90-100 figures to match your purpose. One year might not be enough.
Consider buying one marching figure, convert it, make a mold, and cast the other 89-99. Same thing with the instruments make one, make mold, cast the other ones.

Help w/ finding figures

Well I would like to create a "diorama" if you want to call it that. Of my High School Marching Band. I realize that even if there are already figures that are specifically made for Marching Band. It's going to take a while. My deadline is June of 2008 (my graduating year). I don't know of any kits that are of Maching Bands but is there any kits that I could easily convert to a Marching Band. There's going to be about 90-100 Figures total. And I also need instruments. I've never tried sculpting a figure by itself so I don't know how to or anything. Also It needs to be 1/35 scale preferably. So any kits out there of intstruments or figures I can convert or should I just not even try this progect.?
