Valiant Miniatures had several British 8th Army infantry figures as well as tanker figures from that theater.  I'm not sure if they're all still commercially available, but I see a good number of them on eBay from time to time.

Ultracast has a desert tanker set as does Hornet and Warriors - some individual troops too.

Airfix do a set of 1/32 Multipose  8th Army figures. They're better than the Tamiya ones of the same vintage, but neither are really up to today's standards. Here are some sprue shots:

If you can live with the difference in scale, the Tamiya 1/35 British Infantry on Patrol set is an excellent source of weapons and equipment. In the Tamiya range, the 1/35 Universal Carrier, 6 pdr anti-tank gun and 25pdr gun are good sources of figures. The figures with the 25pdr, in particular, scrub up quite well:

Cheers,

Chris.

Italleri had a set of Brit tankers, African service uniforms IIRC. Verlinden had a tanker or two as well, and so did Resicast. Of course Tamiya has a number of figures that came with their various Brit tank kits too.

As for troops Tamiya makes a set "8th Army Infantry" with six or eight figures mainly in action poses. They also make a set of ETA figures, if you feel like it you can "cut" their pants and give them high stockings.
