Adolf Galland 200mm
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 5:23 PM

My first post here and I have been out of the hobby for several years. I have set up a new hobby room and several projects underway, but I would like some feedback on Adolf to see if I am on the right track. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-8/1208134/Galland1.JPG

Oh, yeah. That's the right track indeed! Great leather effect on the coat. Eyes look really good. In the figure world, you could use a bit more highlight and shadow on the flesh tones, but just a bit. Or maybe not. It's hard to tell from only one pic. Stop by http://www.hfmodeling.com/ and http://www.planetfigure.com/. These are dedicated figure sites and the painters there would l;ove to see this fine work.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

One fine paint job!

Guess figure painting is like riding a bike, you never unlearn!

Excellent work, and welcome! Look forward to more pics.

Thanks for the links! That planetfigure forum kicks arse! There was a great forum almost ten years ago where all the "cats" in the hobby used to hang out. Particularly the Cali and Chicago crews, but also the Atlanta crew as well. Augie Rodrigeuz was kind enough to corroespond with me for a few weeks on research for a vignette I was working on. I miss being able to rub shoulders with the legends in the hobby and learn and get inspiration from them.

Haven't poked around the other one much yet, but it looks good too.

Looks good from what I can see.  Would love to see more photos.  I am starting this figure (by that I mean I cleaned it up and glued parts together to get ready for primer, so who know when I will get to painting).  Would love to hear how you painted, oils or acrylics, etc.

I painted 99% of it with oils, the rest was enamel. I will try to post some more pics this weekend.

on the right track??? I dont paint many figures but i'd say you rode in dug up the prairies, and hand laid the right track yourself. That thing looks great.

I think it looks great!  BTW - how tall is a 200 mm figure?
