Finemolds US Infantry Woman 1/12? scale
Posted by PatlaborUnit1 on Sunday, October 29, 2006 11:04 AM

Hi guys.

I found something right up my alley at Gatorcon yesterday that I never knew existed.  From Finemolds in 1994, US Infantry Woman "Sandy" standing with DBDU's and -A2 rifle, ALICE webgear, typical for the era. She's what is known as 'super deformed" meaning shes been squashed in certian proportions, which is often seen in Asian anime and manga. Well, shes cute, the moldings are terrific (Only missing USA and name tapes with Division armpatch, small stuff like that.

Anyone ever run across this kit? I've not painted DBDU's so I need some color refernce on the proper colors, pattern isnt a problem.   I definitely see my MIG pigments being put to use here!

All help appreciated guys, ill try to get a photo of the boxtop

Finemolds has a series of these figures, probably 6 or 7 total most from WWII.  Some are available at Great Mode;s

www.greatmodels.com

They are kind of neat. I have one, a US Soldier from WWII.

Regarding cholate chip BDUs, there is a tutorial on Armorama, I'd give a link but apparently can't here.

Go to www.hfmodeling.com then look under features, then under painting.

I must not understand the posting process on this site.  The link posting icon in my header does not show, so apparently only some people can post links.  THanks for posting it Heavy Arty.

It is no longer in the header since the posting system changed recently.  All you need to do is copy the link url and post it directly into your reply.  Nothing special or any special privledges about it.

Can women really be posted to frontline combat units?

Women are allowed in all branches except Armor, Infanrty, and Artillery.    Just about all the other jobs are open to them in the US Army.  I believe it is the same in the USMC.  Pretty much all jobs are open to them in the USAF and USN as well.

Thanks for the link HeavyArty.

I have been trying to get my link/ photo inset button towork, but from my end those are still blurred out and I cannot seem to get right clicking to do anything for me.

I used to be able to post pics here fine, but no more. Apparentely there was a change  a while back....

*bump*

I dug this old kit out, it has been a while since I touched her, and today was a good day to work on her as we did our demonstration at the USS Kidd.  I'm having a blast with her but the neck seam is just HORRID. I may cut the whole neck area out behind the Tshirt and add a long stump like newer generation heads.  Otherwise, the seams are easily filled with Magicsculp and she is about ready for paint.

The web gear is pretty darned nice. It would look at home on a 1/6 scale figure. the -A2 is really small compared to the web gear but as you can see it is very tall for her. Hey, shes FUN remember?

After my recent success with the Desert Storm trooper I will do her in DBDU as well.
