I am also busy with an Indian figure, that of Pilipili's Hawkeye, a woodland Indian from around 1760. I will post a pic as soon as I am done.

Once again - great looking figure!

Thanks. I have seen the Hawkeye done several times, a nicely sculpted piece. Looking forward to seeing yours.

Nice work.

Reminds me of an old club mate of mine, Dick Thorne. He was really into Native American figures too. I've known him for nearly fifteen years and I don't think he's done anything else in that time. I sculpted a face of an old medicine man for him once, based loosely on a painting from a post card. He started the figure, but he messed up the body and shelved it. Sculpting wasn't his strong suit

Comanche Chief Iron Jacket
Posted by ajlafleche on Friday, November 3, 2006 7:21 PM

Here is the completed Thorsberg Miniatures Iron Jacket, a Comanche chief of the 1850 who gained this name from wearing a Spanish metal cuirass. This kept him safe in battle until a bullet either slipped between the plates or entered between the front and back. The shield pattern is based on one depicted in the Osprey Comanche book. The lance tip is reinforced with two spare feathers from the kit "tied" on with a strip of wine bottle foil. An in box review can be found  here
