Figure modification
Posted by Hightower on Saturday, November 4, 2006 4:53 PM

Hello all.  Looking for info, pics, site references etc on modifying 1/35 scale figures.  Changing arms, legs torsos and poses.  What is a good source for parts, what gauge wire to use and what is the best material to use as filler between gaps like at the elbow and such. I have the Building Armor Diorama book but it is limited in scope regarding this aspect of modelling.

Thanks Cheers

Wire...just about anything form brass rod to paper clips.

Filler...milliput, super sculpey, or any two part epoxy putty, including the stuff from the hardware store.

Body parts, Dr. Frankenstein? Besides buying lots of sets, there are several Verlinden conversion sets from WWII to Vietnam. Other wise, do you have any modeling friends you can trade with?

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Paper clips are ideal. I use them form most of my arm, leg and spine armatures in 54mm-1/9th scale figures. Any bigger though and I use either thick sculptor's armature wire or a simple coat hanger wire.

If you look at some of Bill Horan's figures in progress, youll see that he uses paper clips.
