New to these forums and maybe figures.  Has anyone bought figures from this seller in the Ukraine and how  are they?  Pictures look great and good feedback but  not to sure on  buying anything from waaaay over there.  Sorry about the link not working, haven't figured that out yet.

They look like copies of figures made by other manufacturers: I recognized figures by Andrea, Pegaso and Soldiers.

My suggestion don't buy from that company they are making money on somebody else's work.

At $20 a pop, including postage, the sculpting looks okay but the casting quality leaves something to be desired. The first on the list has a huge mold line on its right shoulder and holes in the metal on the back that would need to be addresses. On the other hand, several have raised heraldry detail, making the painting easier. They may indeed be pirated recasts, though those tend to be resin. I'd pass and buy form a reputable dealer stateside such as http://www.sentinelminiatures.com or http://www.redlancers.com, both of which always have some first class figures on sale.

Yeah, I'd say these are pirated figures. Albeit well done pirated copies and a little more than the usual resin stuff on evil bay but tin or pewter alloy are easier in some cases to cast than resin.

My advice...... run, don't walk away from these. You can get the originals which will have better detail and be legitimate. It's ultimately your conscience though. I liken "deals" like this on e-bay to buying stereo speakers out of someones trunk in a parking lot. Sure you got a great deal, but someone, somewhere is missing their speakers.

I had seen these also, and agree with the sentiments here. If you want some nice, original figures from Russia, I recommend http://www.leadwarrior.com/. His figures are his own work, and ordering from his site is safe and easy. The figures usually arrive via airmail in 7-10 days.

Had a look at this site and the medival figures do look familiar. Still looking through the known producers but I think it's not 100% his own work, maybe he just modified some details.
I'll let you now.

EDIT

I understood why they looked familiar, some are representations of illustrations that can be found in some Osprey books on the middle ages.

So I take back my accusation and apologize.

He has some interesting figures in his catalog. I don't like the high relief he uses for the heraldry on his banners and shields but the detail looks nice and the figures look fairly executed.

Thanks for the link

BTW rljs2006, nice avatar. I've always been a big fan of the mannessische liederhandschrift.

Thanks...

I have an (as yet) unpainted, 54mm flat of part of this scene, which shows the Duke of Anhalt and the un-named rider at tournament (see below). I purchased it here in the US from: http://www.thelittletinsoldier.com/

OH MAN! I have to get me one of those.!!!

If you guys want the reference for medieval figures, find a copy of the Macejowski Bible.Actual Title is Old Testament Miniatures. Its an oversized book that JP Morgan put together for his fellowship into the Cloisters Museum. It is a high quality facsimile of a illustrated bible from 1250. It is the go to reference for english and french fashion in this period. The manuscript illustrations are superb as a reference source.

I have two copies in my personal library and reference them often. You can find this facsimile book from rare book dealers for anywhere from $120 to $400 depending on condition.

This is just one folio and there are several more. Now if someone would just compile the images of the 200 years coverd by the Grande Chronique of France....
