I am looking to build a diorama of a WWI ambulance (horse drawn) with some WWI "doughboys" in 1/35 scale. I don't have a huge budget for this one. Did Tamiya or Dragon make any WWI American subjects. It seems that there are a ton of WWI tanks coming out, but not many figs?

Any help would be appreciated.

Todd;

I don't know what your conversion skill level is. But you could convert some of the cheaper figures out there with a bit of work and some epoxy putty. For the horse drawn ambulance you could use one of the available horse drawn kits and for the figures use some of the older Italeri figures as a base for the conversions. Then it is just a matter of sculpting in the new features with putty and time.

Todd,

Scale Link is a British company who makes a line of metal 54mm WW1 figures and equipment sets  for German, US ,British, French and Belgian armies; and US source is RedLancers.

Never.

The Model Cellar used to have a few 1/35 Brits and Tauro used to have a few of various nationalities. There are a few metal figures from Andrea, but they are getting pricey. There are a few pilot figures, as well, but precious little in ground troops.
