I have the Andrea CD and it is pretty good. It concentrates on painting a single figure step by step using thier brand of acrylic paints (similar to other brands such as Vellajo). It is good but I think I would also read the Paine book because it goes more in depth on subjects such as color theory and the principles involved in properly shading a figure. All in all I would say they compliment each other well.

I have not read Paine's book but hear it is very good. There is a new step by step cd that Andrea Minitures has put out. I have been thinking about either shepard paines book or the cd from Andrea Minitures.

Shep's book is definately the bible on the subject. You might also look into some of the books published by Andrea miniatures.
I learned the basics from the instructions that were included with the old Monogram Merite figures from the late 60's (see them on Ebay alot) and from the later Valiant miniatures instruction sheets. I'm not sure but I believe Mr. Paine wrote these as well.
Good luck and remember the more faces you paint the better you will get at it!

Shep Paine's book is probably the best one out there. I think there is a link to it on this site.

Hi all,
What is the best book out there for explaining how to paint scale figures. Mostly I'm looking at 1/48 and 1/32 figures to include in dioramas.
