The PASGT body armor vest in Tamiya's Modern Infantry (I'm assuming that is the one you are referring to) is correct. It depends on when in the '90s you were in and what branch.
In the early '90s, the old-style, all-OD flak vests were still used by some units. In the mid '80s, about '84-'85, the PASGT body armor, along with the PASGT helmet (Kevlar) came into the system. PAGST Body armor came in only Woodland camo, but also had a 6-Color and a 3-color DCU outer shell for desert use.

However, if you were a tanker, the CVC body armor was more common. Some still wear the all-OD CVC body armor today as well.

The latest body armor is the IBA (Interceptor Body Armor), as seen since about 2002.
It comes in Woodland, 3-color DCU, USMC Coyote Brown, and now in US Army digital ACU patterns.
