Well I can't help with the colors but as far as your friend.  How about a baseball but or less violent tell him that all of your reference pics were in Black and White and so you took artistic license.

Kenny,

I always use straight colour on any models because of that reason.

Have just finished the 1/48 accurate minatures Avenger (full photoetch too, arrrgh!) in RNZAF (Royal New Zealand Airforce) colours. I stuck religiously to the FS no.s and faded mainly using chalks and mig powders. With figures and model colour I'm learning how to vary the creases and folds on uniforms. This requires mixing. On some of the resource books I have they use set colours and ratios which are great but mainly concentrate on german camo. With allied uniform colours do you know of any titles???

In addition to the embarrassment of pink, I'm a New Zealander living in Australia. You can't imagine all the jokes !!!!!!!! If looking for something different to model have a look at the classic airframes 1/48 Vampire in RNZAF colours or just type into your search engine ANZAC or GALLIPOLLI. You maybe surprised.

Cheers,

Dave

Highlights and Shadows for Model Colour. HELP !!!!!!
Posted by DEF 65 on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 8:15 PM

Hi there,

Finally after 3 years of "getting around to it" and 15 boxes of 1/35 fiqures I have invested in model colour paints and decent brushes. Everything is set up including wet pallet and resource mags for technique. The problem is that I'm color blind (deficient in red & green ) and I can't match or mix to sight. Are there any tables for highlights and shadows with ratios.Primarily US fiqures at present. My first fiqure of 2nd Armoured Division turn out well until a good friend and modeller mentioned "Hmmm looks good but why pink field jacket?" Has not let me forget it for the last 3 days. HELP!!!!!!!!

Dave
