Well, Ive been atching the figures you guys have been doing, and Decided all this metal stuff looked pretty fun, So Ive decided to taka dive into 54mm figures. Im intereseted in ancient greek, celt, roman, saxon, viking, norman, byzantine, that kind of stuff. Im reallllly cheap when it comes to shelling out cash for models, and also didnt ant to spend lots of money on my first figures, so I looked and looked, until I finally found a Site called Historic Models from Petersburgh Ukrain/rusia I think, and then traced them to this ebay store. If anyone could take a look and tell me if they know anything about them, or if the quality looks good (it does to me) Than I would be very appreciative. Specifically Im interested in the A17 Celt Warrior, and AO3 Greek Hoplite, Attacking. Thanks for your time, and any tips youve got for someone new to figur modelling, All ive ever done is 1/35 ww2.

If not, does anyone know other cheap sources for those kinds of figures? thanks.

I've never dealt with them before so I can't say whether or not they are good or bad. I've never been comfortable to order anything from e-bay and in all honesty the few times I've dealt with Russian companies I've not been very pleased with the quality or service so that negates them in my book.

They are pre assembles and this can be a problem if you are just starting out. Sometimes, the poses are such that you have to paint before assembly and these preassembled pieces look like thay can be a Pandora's box if you run into some complicated poses and lots of detail accessories that are much better done the same way than molded onto the figure already.

Colorado Miniatures and Redlancer have some comparably priced figures and they are both reputable companies with a fantastic selection of figures. Squadron used to carry some of the plastic Historex figures for as little as a couple of bucks and the quality was very nice, and produced a nice figure. Once its primered its doesn't matter if its plastic, metal or resin, the rest is all paint and up to you.

Good luck, they are addictive.

The good news, I don't recognize them so they don't appear to be pirated. The not so good news. They are one piece castings which means you will have a hard time painting and shading any hard to reach places.

But as a first foray into figures, they may not be a bad deal. Give them a shot and let the rest of us know. This seems to be the only source. The dealer has good feedback.

I'll second what Renarts says about The Red Lancer. I haven't dealt with Colorado but they seem to have a good following.

Thanks guys, and glad to know, as far as you can tell, they dont appear to be pirated. I checked out Colorado miniatures and The Red Lancer, and you were rightt, HUGE selection, with lots on sale. Without a search bar though, i gave up browsing after a long time. The sale prices were just right for me, though. Colorado miniatures also had some great stuff, but again slightly too pricey for until Ive got a couple cheaper ons under my belt. Im looking for figures under 15 dollars or so to give you an idea. I also say a big plastic set of 1/32 Italeri romans or greeks or somethig going for cheap. I know the figures are mostly likely quite bad, but 16 figures for 10 dollars would probably be good practice I would think. Ill let you guys know how those ebay miniatures are. Thanks!

Red Lancer has a search function at the bottom of the list of links on the home page.
