Overall, very well painted. Good highlights and shadows on the face.

The general's revolvers, a .45 and a .38, had ivory handles. Remember the quote from the movie? "They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol." Here's a picture (from the website) of his exhibit from the Patton Museum at Fort Knox:

There is still some mold line on the left holster, and the left hand looks to be incompletly blended to the wrist. There's a bit of a seam directly above the middle star on his helmet.

Willie could use some shading. He looks too monochromatic, even a bit of pink in his ears would liven him up a lot.

Excellent work on the General, MM.

The only thing, and no fault of yours is that it looks more like Dwight D Eisenhower than Patton, but thats just me. Wink [;)]

Very well done, sir.

Many thanks for all kind compliments and comments!

Aj, neither I nor Tuk knew about the ivory handles or had watched the movie. Even if I watched I wouldn't have captured the sound tracks. My listening compresension, unlike my written one, has so much to be desired. You have sharp eyes, I'll pass on your comments and suggestions to Tuk. I agree with them esp. about the dog.

MM,

Figure looks great and painting is done in superb way.  One thing, I believe those starts on his helmet and on collars of his shirts should be shiny silver instead of gold.  It may be just the way photo was taken.  Officers during WWII wore Rank insignias that were silver colour (exception of 2nd LT and Major, which they would wear gold colour rank insignias).

Many thanks for your kind compliments and comments, m1garand! I didn't know about the stars' color. You said those "on his helmet and on collars of his shirts should be shiny silver", what about the ones on his shoulder? also silver? Tuk painted them all gold, perhaps to be consistent with his shirt buttons and belthead.

BTW, I got an idea about this kit, but it came too late. Here's the idea from "experten" on my fellow Asian board :

" Nice build!I'm glad you didn't pose "Willie"the dog doing a "number"on Patton's boots! ;D He's my namesake!"

My response :

"experten, you should have given me the idea earlier. You know, this copycat resin kit comes with Willie missing a part of his left ear and tail, and half of his left rear leg was missing. If I know earlier, I would have told Tuk to build the missing part in raising position right on the boots!"

Yes, all the stars should be silver, not gold.  I believe he wore brown leather riding boots as well.  Like I have said before, pretty good, but a little research on your subject will go a long way toward accuracy.  Officer rank and the ivory-handled revolvers are well known facts that would only take an internet search on GEN Patton to find out.  By the way, Willie pissing on his foot is a pretty disrespectful way to portray him.  Glad you didn't do that.  Some of us actually respect GEN Patton and what he did during WWII.

Buddho, reread the initial post.  MM didn't build this one.  One of his "professional" builders Tuk did.

If you are looking for a good biography of Patton look for "A Genius for War" by Carlo d'Este. Unlike other biographers d'Este had access to the Patton family for interviews. He's an excellent researcher.

The pink innner ear color for Willie is common for any dog with a white coat, not just albinos.

Model Maniac,

Yes, his stars on shoulders should be shiny silver as well.

And I agree with Gino in regard to you not having Willie excusing himself on Gen Patton's boot.

And I agree with Gino in regard to you not having Willie excusing himself on Gen Patton's boot.

Given canine behavior, this would be extremely unlikely to happen. Dogs live by pack rules with an alpha animal at the head of the pack. Certainly, the General would have had an alpha position over Willie. No dog is going to pee on its alpha unless it's looking for major confrontation.

Looks pretty good.  I built that kit a couple of years ago.  I like how your ribbons on his chest turned out.  that was tough.  I had a hard tome trying to find a reference for them
