BRITISH PARA D-DAY - Normandy 1944 - 80mm Figure
Posted by gburdon on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 7:41 AM

Hello All

I posted this figure on here when I was nearing the finish. Well it is finished and earned me a Bronze at the Central Ontario Modelers Show at CFB Borden this past weekend.

It is an old Hinchcliffe figure I picked up on eBay. I painted it entirely in Tamiya acrylics. The base is celluclay with a DAS modelling clay wall and a scratchbuilt shrub of spices from the kitchen over a wire armature.

Cheers;

Gregory

Hi Gregory

Congrats on the bronze. The fig looks good, but the pic is too small for my old eyes... got any more, in larger format?

Steve

Thanks for the comments. Actually I will be posting some more pictures later today. The one I have up now was taken by a club member at the competition.

Cheers;

Gregory

Thanks, Gregory. Outstanding paint job on that guy. When it comes to shrubs, hedges and foliage, y'gotta love the trusty old spice rack! My wife still thinks she's losing her mind re: a bottle of dill weed she bought a few months ago.

Really nice job.

That's why I go to the local dollar store and find the cheapest spices that have no flavour for cooking but work excellent for foliage. The one part I forgot to mention is that under the spices the bulk of the shrub is made from stuffing of a Canada Goose toy that my German Sheperd had. She obliterated it and I just picked up the pieces and dyed them green with fabric dye.
