Darken the mail, he looks aluminum, with a wash as suggested above. Get a flat finish on the surplice to make it look like cloth. Darken the eye slits for depth. You might want to paint the cross piece on the helm in brass for some variety and add some leather to the spur straps. For display purposes, get a small block of wood and stain in with wood stain and build up some ground work.

Berserker, i second what AJ has said. You need to paint in the armour colour and not rely on the white metal to do the job. Then you can apply a wash to the paint, and then when this has dried, maybe semi - drybrush the metal colour over the wash.

Try it out and show me your result.

where do you get your models at?

I don't know about "Fingers" sources, but here's where I get mine on-line:

Military Miniatures Warehouse US and related subjects from about the French and Indian War to the Spanish American War.

The Red Lancer Just about every kit on the market is listed on the site.

Sentinel Miniatures Another very extensive listing of available kits.

I also deal with these guys at the shows where they vend in the Northeast. They all propvide extremely quick service. I've gotten a figure in as little as 4 days, including a holiday.
