sk14 - I painted it blackened brown and did layers of silvers over it, then washed it and did more silver for highlights...hope that helps!  I do think it gives a better look than doing the silver first.  Looks neater I think.

Looks really good. Congrats on the medal. Question for you...I'm working on Verlinden's Black Prince right now. Did you paint the chainmail silver with a black wash or dry brush silver over a black base? The second seems like it would work best, but I haven't been able to get much of a silver look out of it.

Excellent work on this one, especially the shield which is simply stunning.  Congrats on the Silver, that's a great showing with all the fine competition at that event.
