I dont know of any Dragon CANADIAN set, but here is a link to Perth's review of a British set by Dragon

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/figures/dragon/dr6212.htm

or are you referring to their Commonwealth Troops set, #6055?

The catalogue number is 6055x and the Commonwealth troop set's number is 6055 so I assume the Canadian troops are a special edition based on the Commonwealth set. Are there any reviews on the Commonwealth troop set?

I checked the usual sites and could not find any reviews of this set. I have on in my stash, but have not built it yet. It looks like your typical Dragon set of figures on the sprue. I can answer any questions you have about them except for the build itself.

Yeah, it's quite a nice set and depicts Canadian equipment very accurately. If you look very closely on the box art, you can read their shoulder flashes--"The Algonquin Regiment" (a very good but fairly undistinguished Reserve regiment from Northern Ontario). It's a nice kit and I would highly recommend it. The rarity of Canadian figures from mainstream manufacturers is an absolute disgrace in view of the role Canada played in the history of the 20th century, in my opinion.

You might want to check out Ultracast too, they do primarily Canadian stuff.

Since this is a topic on Cdn figures, rather than start a new thread, I have a simalar question: I have Dragon's 2nd SAS Regiment set (#6199) and thought they would be perfect for a scene I am working on. However I would like to portray them as Canadians. Is there any special work that needs doing for the uniforms, especially the berets? Would they need to be a different colour?

I haven't done alot of Allied modelling, mostly German stuff, any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

I have this set and it is a very nice set! all I did was get some Hornet heads with the Mk.IV helmet ( but then I always use hornet over the kit heads) and some Archer's fine transfers for the uniforms. This set passes the previous British sets put out by DML so it is definetly the set to get if you want British/Canadian troops.

Am I correct in stating that the Canadian BDU is more green of a color than the British version (brown)?  I understand that the material is different as well (Canadian nicer). Are there any other differences?

There were a lot of Canadians actually in the SAS and Commandos. Same uniforms and equipment as the British but they were distinguished by 'Canada' flashes on the shoulders. All insignia was removed in the field anyway, so there's not really much to worry about.

If I remeber correctly the greener versions of the British/Commonwealth uniforms were for the troops in the pacific.

Didn't the British BDU have a wool serge winter version (a darker brown green shade)and a denim summer version (lighter and greener in color)? Or was that post war? I remember seeing both sold at surplus stores many years ago.
