You can find wood bases of all shapes and sizes at your local craft stores like Michael's at good prices.  Good luck with your search.

If you have the budget, Andrea makes some very nice, pre-finished pedastal bases suitable for most Busts.  They are available from Squadron & several other web stores.

I've taken an unfinished wooden candle holder from Michael's and cut it down for a bus plinthe. A bit of stain and it looks great.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
