Lip colors

Okay, silly, simple, basic question - this whole figure thing is new to me.  I'm doing my first, a couple of Tamiya 1/35 WWII US infantrymen.  I'm a decent technician, but not much of an artist.  Uniforms and equipment I understand.  I can get the skin shadings, figure out what to do with the eyes, but what's the right color for lips?  My first mixtures came out looking like cheap lipstick on what an earlier generation called "soiled doves".  Suggestions welcome.  Thanks in advance.

I like to mix my flesh color with a drop of Humbrol Wine. Then just paint the bottom lip.

A friend of mine just gave me some Citadel Suntanned Flesh. That seems to work well.

lips can be tough, even for female figs. I dont really paint males but considering the girls I paint are not wearing any form of makeup, I try to keep the lips just a slight tone pinker than the base skin color. I add a pinkish tone mixed from my base colors (all colors are custom for each figure) at 1:8 to my base, test it on scrap first and see how it looks when it dries and work with that.

This is about as far as I go with lips, I want the attention on the eyes.
