Manstein, the shield was totally painted freehand by me, and is not moulded on. The progress images and text on how I done it are somewhere on this forum.

I did and always use a black primer.

As regards body hair, i'm not really up on the technique and its somethin' that really needs to be done well otherwise it'll end up a mess as you can imagine. I'll have to do some research and find some tips and techniques on the subject before I have a go at it.

Thanks, Paul.

Awesome finish...was the shield design your own making or was it engraved in the molding? I noticed your flesh primer was a dark grey or black color...I also work dark to light on my figs...one thing I did notice was that his arm looks very bare (very un-hairy)...did you consider shading/dry-brushing this area to replicate hair? That's just an observation to a VERY stunning piece of work...2 thumbs way up !!!

Very nice. I'm painting one similar to this. May I ask what color you used for the leather skirt on the armor?

Steve, Rick thanks for lookin' and commentin' dudes.

Steve, I start with shadin' the flesh first then the highlights. The shades may have jus' two levels of shadin', while the highlights will have three.

Brilliant job. The highlights and shading make me drool, and the artwork on the shield is eye candy. I wanna send a film crew over there to capture you doing skin tones.

When painting skin: do you start light, and then go dark... or the other way around? I always seem to overwork it.

Finally, I have this one finished. I hope you like it. All the images were taken outside in natural light.
