Does anyone know where to get 1/35 civilian figs, preferably modern? Am I going to have to Frankenstein these?

Verlinden makes a few in resin. Or you can check Preiser, who mainly makes railroad related figures. Are there any particular type of civvy fiures you are looking for?

Yes, more modern figures. I realize they may be hard to come by, but I have an idea for a diorama and they would spice it up. I like the Preiser figs I've seen, and I might be able to use a few of them. Just looking for as many options as possible.

Preisser is your best bet for American/European figures. For Asians/Arabs/Africans, the pickings are much slimmer and you will best find them in resin or metal from Verlinden, Warriors, Andrea, or other manufacturers. What area isthe setting for your diorama?

New Orleans after Katrina. I've seen a lot of pieces from Custom-Dioramics that would fit, such as furniture, debris. I like Preiser and I've been looking at other lines, even if it's just one figure. I guess there isn't much of a demand for modern civilian figs.

Check out Plus Model from the Czech Republic:

They do a number of sets which you might find useful, including 1/35 rats! They do also civilian figures, but in WW2-style clothes.

Also, Carrera do several sets of modern civilain figures, intended as slot racing track accessories, but having other potential uses:

The mould quality's not brilliant, but they would seem to be a good starting point.

Cheers,

Chris.
