For anyone else looking for this sort of stuff, you might like to look at Preiser's figures in 1/50:

http://www.ontracks.co.uk/index.php?page=catalogue&cat=1040

They're not cheap, at £15 per set of 6 (pre-painted) figures, but several of them would seem to have figurehead potential. Presier do suitable figures (including a wide range of scantily-clad young ladies Smile [:)] ) in other scales too; they're worth checking out.

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks!  I ended up ordering some Willie figures from Tradition in London.  The bummer is it comes as a group of figures, and I expect to only use one, but we'll see how it goes!  I chose the 'High Command' Willie group, which has a variety of French officers on foot and on horseback from around 1745.... I should be able to modify one of these satisfactorily!

Some of the Fantasy Wargaming figures might have suitable heads.  These are approximately 28mm, but some tend to run slightly larger or smaller.  Reaper miniatures probably has the most selection that might be useable for your purpose.  Do a Search on Reaper Miniatures & check them out.

Had a look, and there's a couple that might suit, but there sure isn't much selection at that scale!  Anybody know of any other sources?

Check these out.

Figurehead suggestions?

Greetings!  i am sliding over here from the 'Ships' section, as I think you guys might have some good information and suggestions.... I am currently building a 1/150 scale French 74 gun Napoleonic warship, but the figurehead provided is really crappy.  I would like to replace it with a 1/50 (30mm) figure that could be modified to fit in the same place, which would require cutting a slot out of the back in order to fit it on the prow.  As the ship is named 'Glorieux,' I thought perhaps a dramatic looking Roman general, or perhaps some equally dramatic mythological figure might work, but I am having little or no luck finding a site with photos of the figures to determine if they might be suitable.  For some reason, 30 mm figures seem to be pretty scarce, but if the figure is dramatic enough, even a 25mm figure might do.... Does anyone have any suggestions for sourcing and/or photos of anything like this that they could share?
