Gunze Sangyo paints?
Posted by Boomerang on Sunday, March 9, 2008 1:43 AM

Hi guy's, just wanted to ask does anyone use Gunze Sangyo paints for figure painting?

Looking for good flesh paints. I would use Vallejo but they are not very accessible for me. I can get Gunze Sangyo easy.

   Thanks.

I only use a few shades of theirs for figures. Most of thier line is semi gloss and that finish does not work well for me. Their flesh shade is ok, but again, the SG finish does not look right.

Thanks mate for your advice. I might keep looking for options to get some Vallejo colours.

Boomer,

If you're having difficulty pinning down Vallejo locally, they can be ordered from LuckyModel (in HK) for less than the local shelf-price. I ordered some from there recently and had no problems. Australian Customs will most likely open the package to inspect the contents (as they did mine) but it will come through ok.

Hi Boomer,

Sorry to tell you that Avenue Hobbies closed up in late October last year. A great loss to Sydney modellers... Sigh [sigh]

Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle list but a handful on their website. I understand Hobbyrama in Brisbane have a good range of Vallejo if you want to stick to a local supplier. (Still cheaper including shipping from LuckyModel though... Clown [:o)])

Thanks Phil. I just moved from Newcastle, Frontline Hobbies being a place i used to visit quite frequently....Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]. I don't remember them having any Vallejo paints. They were starting to stocl the Lifecolor brand of paints when i left.

Thanks for all your help anyway. Hey, where in Oz do you live?
